Laboring

Always one to be inspirational (ha!), I submit for your perusal some quotes to motivate you on this, the most festive of holidays: Labor Day.

Work hard, but not just to please your masters when they are watching. As slaves of Christ, do the will of God with all your heart. Work with enthusiasm, as though you were working for the Lord rather than for people.
~ Ephesians 6:6-7

There is no substitute for hard work.
~ Thomas Edison

A hundred times every day I remind myself that my inner and outer life depend on the labors of other men, living and dead, and that I must exert myself in order to give in the same measure as I have received and am still receiving.
~ Albert Einstein

Work is no disgrace; the disgrace is idleness.

~ Greek proverb

A mind always employed is always happy. This is the true secret, the grand recipe, for felicity.
~ Thomas Jefferson

And last but certainly not least, my favorite quote regarding labor (the PBA can attest to this as well):

If a man will not work, he shall not eat.
~ 2 Thessalonians 3:10

Lest you be confused in any way, yes the PBA most-assuredly had school today; we are non-union.

    1. Oh we also cleaned, moved some furniture, and double-checked that our tent still had all the pieces in preparation for camping this week-end. There is NOTHING wrong with laboring on Labor Day! :)

  2. Bah! I have a hard time reminding myself of and living by Eph. 6:6-7 on a daily basis (sheesh! and I am a church secretary for cryin' out loud!)

    Thank for the reminders!

  3. Love the quotes and REALLY love the photo. My daughter did her National History Day project on the photography of Lewis Hine and how he helped end child labor with his pictures.

    1. It is STUNNING what children used to be subjected to...now, sometimes I think we've gone too far the other way and don't always expect them to do enough.
