Yes, it's a new show coming to Animal Planet this fall: Indy the Bunny Hunter...much like Dog the Bounty Hunter...only this is a real dog "hunting" harmless balls of fluff.
But I do give the bunnies at our house some credit...they are no dummies; they apparently learned early on that Indy's reach is only so far.
About 20 feet to be exact.
And this is with the new chain...the old one (which was a mere 15 feet) rusted and he snapped it clean off one day while he was outside. "Fortunately" for us, he ran just a few doors down to a neighbor's house...because he smelled the food on their grill.
That right there is the tell-tale sign that he belongs at our house: he's motivated by his stomach.
But I digress...
Since it was apparent to us from the beginning that Indy is a "runner," we choose to not let him outside unless on a leash or chain.
Some of us (OK, mostly Mr. Always Random, but sometimes "others" as well) would like to rethink that rule and just let him "run free." But I couldn't possibly handle the weeping and gnashing of teeth from the PBA should Indy never come back.
And since we're into telling the truth, I would probably also be a touch on the sad side if he never came back.
But please don't tell him that. I think he's already starting to suspect that I like him.
Even though he's not the brightest bulb in the box...
The bunnies when Indy is outside...just hanging out and eating the clover...making a mockery of his hunting and guard-dog prowess |
Bunnies when ANYONE else comes outside...look at that cute little cottontale! |
